You’ve seen them before: “miracle” creams that promise to turn back the clock on your aging skin. Unfortunately, these topical solutions rarely hold up to their hype.

If you’re tired of going to bed covered in lotions and creams that aren’t producing results, then you may be a good candidate for dermal fillers. Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvéderm are safe and produce fast results. They can restore volume to the face and correct moderate to severe folds, wrinkles and lines.

If you have questions about dermal fillers in Washington, D.C., contact Radiance Medspa. Our skincare specialists will get to the root of your underlying skin issues with an advanced Visia Digital Skin Analysis. Call 202-483-0008 to schedule a consultation.

Until then, read on to learn why over-the-counter wrinkle treatments are letting you down:

False Claims

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration is clamping down on drug companies that sell anti-wrinkle creams. Why? Turns out there’s little scientific evidence to support the claims that these quick solutions can rejuvenate your skin.

At best, these creams will temporarily add moisture to your skin, making them no more effective than a splash of water. At worst, they could actually cause permanent damage.

The FDA has required many companies to remove false promises from their products. It is physically impossible for any over-the-counter cream to achieve the results that some products promise. For example, changing the “anatomy of a wrinkle” is scientifically impractical, and there is no such substance as an “elastin-stimulating peptide.”

Why are these companies exaggerating the benefits of their anti-aging creams? Simple: According to Statista, American shoppers spent more than $2 billion on these treatments last year.

What Will Work for Me?

Stop wasting money on over-the-counter products, and invest in a procedure with results. Your best bet? Consider injectable wrinkle fillers.

Juvéderm takes less than one hour, and the results can last up to 12 months. Unlike BOTOX, which relaxes the muscle under the wrinkle, these injections fill the line, crease, or area with malleable hyaluronic acid.

Wrinkle fillers can also be injected as volumizers, lifting and plumping up jawlines, cheeks, temples and lips, or even taking the sag out of wrinkly hands. Side effects are rare, and repeated injections can help stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen. Lines and wrinkles may disappear permanently as a result.

Am I a Good Candidate for Juvéderm?

The ideal Juvéderm patient is at least 18 years old and does not have allergies to hyaluronic acid. Women who are breastfeeding or pregnant should not undergo the Juvéderm treatment. Patients also should not take blood thinners before the procedure.
