They say beauty is only skin deep. We disagree, but we think skin has a lot to do with it. If you’re not confident in your own skin, you might be more hesitant to let your inner beauty shine! With treatments like IPL Photofacial- Cutera Limelight, we’re here to help you love being in your own skin! IPL Limelight is a non-invasive procedure that uses light frequencies to target excess pigment, small veins, or redness. Sounds like good news right? And there’s more! IPL Limelight is considered safe, and doesn’t harm surrounding skin. In addition to diminishing or removing unwanted pigment, IPL Limelight also stimulates collagen production. More collagen is the key to plumper, smoother, healthier, younger looking skin! So, you heard us right: there is an easy treatment that not only removes excess pigment but also decreases the appearance of pores and fine lines!
What is unwanted or excess pigment?
We all know that feeling when there’s something about our skin that we don’t like, but what exactly counts as “excess or unwanted pigment?” Rosacea, age spots, freckles, sun (brown) spots, broken capillaries, birthmarks and melasma are all forms of excess skin pigment.
According to MedlinePlus, “pigmentation means coloring. Skin pigmentation disorders affect the color of your skin. Your skin gets its color from a pigment called melanin. Special cells in the skin make melanin. When these cells become damaged or unhealthy, it affects melanin production.”
Who should get IPL?
At Radiance MedSpa, we use Limelight IPL to effectively treat many kinds of patients, ranging from vascular treatments to acne treatments.
Vascular treatment includes facial redness, spider veins, telangiectasias, cherry angiomas, Rosacea, hemoglobin, and broken capillaries caused by aging or sun damage. As ZincClinic notes, “More sun damaged skin will usually have a dramatic improvement…Limelight is perfect for the patient with both red and brown discoloration.”
IPL treats acne by providing a safe method of reducing the bacterial growth and oil secretion that causes breakouts. IPL treatments are also highly effective for reducing pseudofolliculitis (razor bumps).
What to expect during and after your treatment
Get excited, because the end result is smoother, healthier and younger looking skin! 3 to 6 sessions may be required, but the number of treatments is determined by your healthcare professional. Most patients experience a little discomfort and some redness after treatments. No downtime is involved, so patients can return to normal activities immediately. Do not tan before your treatment. IPL isn’t recommended for patients who are pregnant, taking blood thinners, or experiencing active acne breakouts.
At Radiance MedSpa we want to help you discover your optimum overall health, wellbeing, and beauty. All of our treatments are supervised by medical professionals who have your best interests in mind.
